This was quite a feat (and I am speaking as one who only provided moral support!). When we moved, a lot of stuff was dumped in the basement until it could be sorted and dealt with, and, unfortunately, it wasn't exactly dust-free at that point. Now we can confidently say it's as clean as an old basement can get! This is one of hubby's work areas, but we have visions of a ping-pong table someday ... maybe a rec area for when the kids are older. Now hubby is on to duct work, which you can see evidence of in these pictures. We are taking advantage of any day that seems to be leaning toward spring. Thankfully, we have mostly had rain and not much snow, but ... hurry up, spring!

He is Risen! Here we are on Easter Sunday. I can't put it better than one of our favorite Easter hymns (we hear a lot of singing around here, courtesy of little girl!): The foe was triumphant when on Calvary The Lord of creation was nailed to the tree. In Satan's domain did the hosts shout and jeer, For Jesus was slain, whom the evil ones fear. Have mercy on us, Lord! But short was their trimuph, the Savior arose, And death, hell, and Satan He vanquished, His foes; The conquering Lord lifts His banner on high; He lives, yea, He lives, and will nevermore die. Have mercy on us, Lord! (Evangelical Lutheran Hymnary #350, vs 2 & 3) Baby Steps ...... has kind of been our theme around here lately. First of all, little boy's preferred method of transportation is finally walking! It is such a precious, and busy, stage. I would also describe our house progress lately as if we are making baby steps. It has been a busy month, but hubby has managed to take down the chute from the 2nd story that he used when demo'ing last fall and burn the remnants from the 2nd story demo (which makes the "demolition phase" officially done). Our bathroom is fully privatized (we can have guests!), the cement board is up around the fire place, the plywood and some cement board has been laid in our future dining room/entry, our gutters are clean, & we have an industrial-sized tarp on top of our storage truck to protect our belongings from spring rain. Oh yes - the dishwasher is hooked up & I never appreciated it more! I have been trying to use these past few weeks to work toward meeting some "inside-ish" goals, one of which is to get the hang of freezer cooking (designating one day per week to do a bunch of meal prep/cooking, to lessen the load throughout the rest of the week). Most of what we eat is made from scratch, so this has been super helpful in that I don't feel like I spend large amounts of time in the kitchen everyday. Also, on days when nausea hits hard, I can usually fall back on a freezer meal. Pictured above is my trusty little helper making baked oatmel.
