Oh, where to begin! The month of July flew by at record speed as hubby embarked on insulating our whole house. What began as one long weekend slowly turned into 16 days of the children and I being out of our house. At the time, it seemed like everything was going wrong - machines malfunctioning, tasks taking much longer than planned - but, God preserved us (especially, hubby, who had very little sleep during this stint and worked way too hard)! It was quite humbling to need the help of so many of our friends and family to get us through this phase, and we are so, so thankful for their eagerness to help. Needless to say, we are all still recuperating and getting into a rhythm again after being away from home and separated from hubby/daddy for the longest period of time in our marriage and the kids' lives! One of the upsides to all of this is that the kids and I were able to spend extra time with my parents. The kids got in lots of bike rides and walks, some time at the beach and library, going on special errands with grandma, a campfire, and snuggle time with both grandpa and grandma. I wish I had pictures of the insulation project, but all of our belongings were secured under plastic and difficult to get at. It feels good to have this step of the house remodel complete! What's Next?Getting ready for baby #3, who is expected to arrive in about 5 weeks! We were hoping to be moved into our upstairs bedrooms by the time of the baby's arrival, but it's looking like we won't quite be ready for that. Instead, I am trying to make our current situation as homey and welcoming to our new member as possible, and have started to plug away on a list of "must-do's" before his arrival. Little boy filling up the swimming pool ... they both love the pool, whether wet or dry! Garden helpers ... Memories made: We celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary in July by taking a family outing for rootbeer floats followed by time spent at a park. We took a mini-trip without the little ones last year for our 10th, so this was perfect for this year and we all had such a fun evening! In closing ...I have been reading Psalm 42 for encouragement while recovering from this "rough patch" and the refrain goes as follows: "Why are you cast down, O my soul, and whey are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God." Recently, a note in my Bible's commentary caught my attention: "This refrain captures the reality of faith: sorrow amid trials, yet certainty in God's care."Oh, how this summarizes our last month! There have been trials and sorrow, yet God used and is using this to strengthen our faith in His sure and certain promises declared to us in His Word. Thanks be to God for His abundant blessings, despite us!
